Global Warming

Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the earth naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. This is a good thing because it sustains life on the planet. However, we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas and by clearing forests, causing temperatures to rise.
The evidence of global warming is overwhelming and if we continue there could be devastating effects:
• Sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
• The occurrence of heat waves, droughts and wildfires will become more frequent.
• By 2050, the Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer.
• By 2050, more than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction.
• Human deaths from global warming could double in just 25 years.
Every individual has a responsibility to minimize their CO2 contribution. By harnessing the sun’s energy, the reliance on fossil fuels can be minimized, thus directly reducing CO2 emissions. By installing the Vesuvius Solar Water Heating System you will reduce CO2 emissions by over 3700kg per year, equivalent to planting more than 200 trees!
